This is an actual error message I got while running Windows Vista. I kid you not. I don't recall the context, I just know that one day, my computer did something right, and it apparently felt bad about it. "Error: The operation completed successfully." Apparently Windows and I have different ideas of what an error is. While I might claim that an error would be, for example, stopping my DVDs mid-action-sequence, putting half of my files in a folder I can't find while having never prompted it to do so, crashing my internet browser four times in rapid succession for reasons unexplained other than a generic alert, or, I don't know, leaving me in fear that my next left-click could be my last before the entire godforsaken machine seizes like an epileptic at a sweet rave party - yes, while all of THOSE are errors in my book - Windows apparently considers success itself to be a fatal mistake. This explains so much. No I'm not going Mac. Leave me alone. This delightful error message/OS screenshot is brought to you by Microsoft. Respect.
I dunno what's stranger. The fact that Microsoft thinks that success is an error (somehow I'm not very surprised), or the fact that you've got a link to your DA page as a desktop shortcut, while it'd be much more handy to have it in your favourites or somethin'. And then there's the fact that you don't seem to have a wallpaper, other than a spread of black space. Are you a goth, by any chance?
First off, the error message IS my wallpaper. This deviation is a desktop screenshot. I took a screenshot of the message a long time ago, then cropped it down to the error alone (hence the pointy border). I centered it as my background, so the extra space just got filled in with black. Also, the link is on my desktop for convenience purposes. I put it there when I realized that I go to DA more than any other page by far these days. So, in addition to it being in my favorites list, there's also a direct link to my page on my desktop. So I don't have to take the arduous extra steps of opening IE and filtering through faves folders for the link. Because obviously, I just don't have that kind of time. >> << It's like fifteen seconds that I JUST CAN'T SPARE.

Quite... Interesting.
